New trend seeing women melt and reinvent their bridal jewellery post-split
Women are now finding novel ways to reclaim their jewellery without being burdened by its history by melting down their wedding bands and engagement rings to create new pieces with new designs.
Those working in the UK jewellery industry say that it's a fast-growing trend with calls for 'divorce rings' doubling in the past year, the Daily mail reported.
While for some divorcees they're worn as a permanent reminder of the relationship they once had, for others it's just to celebrate a fresh start or simply about being able to find a way to continue wearing a ring they love.
According to Suzanne Paskin from Element Jewellery in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, many women don't want to sell their married jewellery, rather they want to re-invent and recycle it.
