New Delhi, Aug 7

In a bid to provide a platform for trade, knowledge exchange and business networking, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority has facilitated participation of more than 35 international buyers from 13 key overseas markets in the country.

Buyers from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Mongolia and Egypt, among others, represented leading importers, distributors, wholesalers and retail chains - participating in structured Buyer-Seller Meets (BSMs) with Indian exhibitors to foster business partnerships, explore new sourcing opportunities and promote long-term export collaborations, according to Commerce Ministry.

The ministry, in collaboration with Nuernberg Messe India, is organising 'BIOFACH INDIA 2026' from August 6-8 at the India Expo Centre and Mart (IEML) in Greater Noida.

The event features more than 200 exhibiting companies, including over 60 exhibitors participating under the APEDA Pavilion.

Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, said the organic sector offers significant opportunities to enhance India's agricultural exports while creating greater market opportunities for farmers and enterprises.

"Such platforms provide an important avenue for showcasing India's diverse range of certified organic products, facilitating engagement with international buyers, strengthening India's presence in global organic markets, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and supporting greater value realisation across the organic value chain," according to the statement.

Representing exporters, women entrepreneurs, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), startups and organic enterprises, the APEDA Pavilion showcases a diverse range of certified organic products from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and other organic-producing regions across the country.

The display includes cereals, pulses, millets, spices, tea, coffee, fresh fruits and vegetables, processed foods, herbs, medicinal plants, oilseeds, edible oils, honey, cocoa products, natural ingredients, organic nutraceuticals and other value-added food products, reflecting India's agro-climatic diversity and growing strength in certified organic production.

Good initiative, but I hope the benefits actually reach the farmers at the ground level. Too often, we see these export promotions benefiting only the big corporates while the actual producers remain in the dark. Need more transparency in the supply chain.

This is exactly what Make in India should look like! Our organic produce is world-class, especially the spices and millets from the Northeast. With 35+ international buyers, I'm optimistic about our agri exports. Proud moment for Indian agriculture! 👏

As someone who imports organic products for a living, India is definitely on our radar. The quality has improved massively, but the certification process needs to be streamlined. Glad to see APEDA taking this seriously.

It's heartening to see women entrepreneurs mentioned! Our organic honey and millet-based products from Tamil Nadu have so much potential. I just wish more support was given to the smaller FPOs who struggle with cold storage and logistics.

Interesting to see Mongolia and Egypt on the buyer list. India's organic teas and spices have a solid reputation. I hope these BSMs lead to long-term relationships rather than just one-off exported consignments.
