Mumbai, Dec 1 : Key Malegaon blast suspect Dayanand Pandey alias Amritanand Shankaracharya was remanded to Judicial custody till December 12, by a Special Maharashtra Control of Crime Act court today.
Special Judge Y D Shinde also asked the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to file reply to the application filed by Pandey's lawyer Abhay Raje, stating that he was not allowed to meet him during police custody, despite the courts permission.
The ATS, along with the Uttar Pradesh Police, arrested Pandey from Kanpur on suspicion of having played an important role with other key suspects Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit in planning the September 29 Malegaon blast.
