Maharashtra top cop threatens to quit
Mumbai, Nov 27 : Mumbai Police joint commissioner Rakesh Maria has threatened to quit from his post if the government does not clarify his position in response to allegations brought against him in a book, media reports said Friday.
Vinita Kamte, wife of slain police officer Ashok Kamte who died fighting terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, has accused Maria of inaction during the operation in her book 'The Last Bullet'.
According to reports, Maria would meet Maharashtra home minister RR Patil on Friday to discuss this issue. The government will take a note of his viewpoint.
"How can he resign just like that?" Patil told mediapersons.
The author has said she is firm on her stand and that she got all the information for her book from RTI.
