Kolkata, Nov 18: Three suspected Bangladeshi militants, arrested for having alleged links with terror outfits Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), were Wednesday remanded in police custody till Dec 2, police said.
Abdullah Baki, Abdul Rahman alias Nafeez and Md Tahsidul were presented before assistant Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bankshal Court, Rabi Ranjan Chakraborty Wednesday.
The three were arrested from Kolkata's Esplanade area Tuesday evening by a team of city police's Special Task Force (STF).
Police had also recovered some objectionable articles, including detonators, a map and counterfeit currency with the notional value of Rs.30 lakh from them.
According to sources, the prosecution asked for their police custody saying that the investigators needed some more time to interrogate them.
"The three are suspected to be involved in planning some terror attacks on the Indian soil and they sneaked in this part of the country to execute the plan," a senior Kolkata Police officer said.
