Karnataka BJP crisis may be resolved today

New Delhi, Nov 8 : A resolution of problems of the ruling BJP in Karnataka is likely to take place today with the rebels and Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa continuing their meetings to break the deadlock.

The Chief Minister called on the Leader of Opposition L K Advani at his residence along with his Cabinet colleagues and senior party members on the occasion of his 82nd birthday today.

Mr Yeddyurappa said he and his team had apprised the Central leader of the situation and said, ''the problem had been appropriately addressed by the leadership.'' He is likely to meet senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj this evening who enjoys the confidence of the rebels led by Reddy brothers.

The Reddy brothers, who had adopted a defiant approach, mellowed down their posture and returned to the capital to enable the BJP leadership to hammer a peace deal. They had a one and half hour meeting with Ms Swaraj where it was made known that they had informed the leadership regarding there demands and said, ''they would abide by the party's decision.'' Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, who has been handling the crisis on behalf of the BJP, also expressed confidence that the leadership would find a solution by this evening.
