8 killed in Peshawar cattle market suicide blast
Peshawar, Nov.8 : At least eight persons were killed, including a Union Council Mayor, and 24 wounded in a car bomb blast that rocked Peshawar on Sunday morning.
The blast took place in a crowded cattle market in Adezai area of Matni.
Peshawar's District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sahibzadah Anis confirmed death of eight persons including Mayor Adizai Abdul Malik .
Malik, who was also a leader of a local ‘jirga', was targeted by extremists on quite a few occasions earlier, however, he had survived all those attempts.
All of the injured have been admitted to Lady Reading Hospital, where the condition of nine persons is stated to be critical, The News reports.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Karim Khan said the blast occurred when a suicide bomber walked into the market and blew himself up killing all the eight persons on the spot.
