Veteran CPI leader dead

Patna, Nov 07 : Veteran CPI leader Rajendra Singh died after prolonged illness at his native village Laulagam in Madhepura district late last night. He was 77.

Party sources said Mr Singh became a member of the CPI in 1952 and later he was made member of the state council of the party.

During his long political career, Mr Singh always struggled for uplift of weaker and downtrodden sections of the society.

Several leaders and social workers gathered at his residence to pay homage to the departed leader.

Others who condoled the death of Mr Singh included state secretaries of CPI Mohammad Jabbar Alam and Badri Narain Lal. In their messsage, they described his death as great loss to the organisation which would be difficult to compensate.
