SSC conducting biggest recruitment drive: Chairman
Mumbai, Nov 3 : Upto 25 lakh applications are expected in the next recruitment drive to be conducted at the year end, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Chairman N K Raghupathy has stated.
Inaugurating the staff selection question bank project here today, Mr Raghupathy said ''SSC had recruited upto 26 lakh applicants since 2001 in services including CBI, Inspectors of Central Excise, Income Tax, and Central Police Organisations.
''This year we are conducting our highest ever recruitment drive and there are still 17,000 vacancies left which should be filled by March 2010. Last year we conducted eight major examinations out of 14, which saw 12 lakh candidates for 6,400 jobs. This year we have already conducted seven major examinations with about seven lakh candidates. We face huge challenges in conducting and evaluating such tests,'' he said.
On the issue of the question bank project on General English and Comprehension, Mr Raghupathy said the subject could not be tested objectively.
