Modi tests positive for Swine Flu
Ahmedabad, Oct 30 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been tested positive for the dreaded H1N1 virus and has been kept in isolation for a week at his official residence at Gandhinagar, an official spokesman said today.
''Mr Modi, who returned here on Wednesday night after a three-day visit to Russia, showed symptoms of swine flu such as cold, cough and body temperature yesterday morning. He himself insisted for a H1N1 virus test. He briefly attended to his official work and attended a cabinet meeting. As fever increased by evening, he decided to cancel all official programmes for two days,'' the medical bulletin said.
''Mr Modi has been kept in isolation at his official residence at Gandhinagar,'' Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas told UNI.
''The Chief Minister tested H1N1 positive late last night and doctors attending on him advised him complete rest and isolation for one week. All facilities for isolation and medical treatment have been arranged at his official residence and the doctors team is on 24-hour attendance,'' the bulletin said.
''An expert team of doctors consisting of Dr Atul Patel, Dr Kamlesh Upadhyaya, Dr R K Patel and Dr Paresh Vora is attending on the Chief Minister. The doctors attending on him have expressed that there is no cause for any concern regarding Mr Modi's health and he is responding to the treatment,'' the bulletin said.
''We pray to god that the Chief Minister recovers fast to be back at work with full force to serve Gujarat,'' the bulletin added.
Mr Modi had headed a high-level delegation of bureaucrats and industrialists to the International Energy Week Conference at Moscow. This was his first visit to Russia.
Swine flu, which took an epidemic form spreading to many cities in Gujarat recently, has claimed over 30 lives and affected many.
