Patriv's ton helps Gujarat to score 327 for five
With the help of a fine century (162) by former test wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel, Gujarat piled up 327 for five against hosts Madhya Pradesh on the opening day of the four-day Ranji trophy tie at the Holkar stadium here today.
At stumps, Manpreet Singh and Akshar Patel were batting with 42 and 12 respectively.
Winning the toss, Madhya Pradesh captain Devendra Bundela decided to field. Although initially the bowlers justified captain's decision by scalping Gujarat openers Smith Patel (19) and Priyank Panchal (5) quickly.
But Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel and Niraj Patel steadied the innings with 133 runs third wicket partnership before Niral was out for 31. However, Parthiv continued his good work and added 87 runs with Venugopal Rao (45) before he became the victim of Jalaj Saxena.
For Madhya Pradesh Anand Rajan took three wickets spearing 67 runs while Saxena, Gaurav Yadav and Ishwar Pandey captured one wicket a piece.
