Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday held a series of high-level meetings in Berlin aimed at deepening economic ties between India and Germany, exploring investment opportunities in startups, healthcare technology and broader areas of bilateral cooperation.

During his visit, Goyal met Carsten Coesfeld, Member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann and CEO of Bertelsmann Investments, and discussed potential avenues for investment in India's startup ecosystem as well as opportunities across the media, education and technology sectors.

"Met with Carsten Coesfeld, Member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann and CEO of Bertelsmann Investments. Explored avenues for investment in startups in India and across the media, education & technology sectors," Goyal noted.

The minister also held discussions with Bernd Montag, CEO of Siemens Healthineers AG, focusing on strengthening the company's presence in India and expanding collaboration in medical technology and affordable healthcare solutions.

Goyal highlighted India's rapidly expanding healthcare sector, growing healthcare infrastructure and increasing emphasis on accessible healthcare services.

He said these trends present significant opportunities for advancing medical technology innovation, digitalisation and artificial intelligence-driven healthcare solutions, helping bring quality healthcare services closer to millions of Indians.

In another meeting, Goyal interacted with Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany and G7 and G20 Sherpa.
