Uttar Pradesh govt directs on appointment of chowkidars

Uttar Pradesh government today announced appointment of one 'chowkidar' each in every revenue village to keep a check on crime rate.
A decision to this effect was taken in a high-level meet chaired by principal secretary (Home) R M Srivastava.
In the meet, it was also decided that the identification of chowkidars would begin under a special campaign from next month.
Besides, the chowkidars would give their attendance in police stations every week against the earlier duration of 15 days.
