The production cost of sugarcane includes actual expenses in cash, kind and imputed value of owned assets including land and family labour, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
During Question Hour, Minister of State for Agriculture Tariq Anwar said estimates of cost of production of various crops, including sugarcane, were generated for use of the Commission for Agriculture Costs and Prices (CACP).
He added that the production cost for sugarcane, as projected by CACP, was Rs 100.81 a quintal in 2010-11, Rs 115.29 a quintal in 2011-12 and Rs 147.96 a quintal in 2012-13.
However, SP leader Naresh Agrawal was unsatisfied with the Minister's reply and walked out from the House with his party members.
