The Government today said it was studying the report of the Select Committee of Parliament on the Lokpal Bill and assured that the Bill would be brought before the Rajya Sabha at the earliest.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajov Shukla was responding to queries during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha by BJP members as to when the Lokpal Bill would be presented now that the report of the Select Committee on the Bill had been placed in the House.
Mr Shukla said,"the report of the Select committee is being studied by the Government. The Lokpal Bill will be presented in the Rajya Sabha at the earliest." Earlier, raising the issue , Deputy Leader of the BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad said,"the report of the Select Committee has been presented in the Rajya Sabha. Just four days are left for the end of the Winter session of Parliament. The country expects the Bill to be passed at the earliest.
The Government should tell us when it will bring the Bill in the Rajya Sabha."
