'Gujarat will prosper if Modi is removed from power', claims Congress
Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary on Saturday expressed confidence that her party would emerge victorious in the Gujarat assembly polls, and added that it will of great benefit to the people of the state if Narendra Modi is removed from power.
"We have entered into the battle and we will come out victorious. Ask this question to those who want to compete with us. What they are showing is mere show off and nothing else, even they know about it," she said.
Taking potshots at Modi for banking on the development model in Gujarat, Chaudhary said the development in the state had taken place much before he was even born.
"When did it (development) take place, before he was born? All these developments had taken place even when he was not born. It has gone down since he has come to power. The common people know about it as well as the chief minister," said Chaudhary.
"They can show the numbers, but we will show the results. This is the difference," she added, while responding to a poser on Modi's claim of the BJP getting over 150 seats in the Gujarat assembly polls.
Chaudhary further alleged that the BJP leaders have a very big problem for they all are of dual membership.
"They can't say anything or even think without RSS. They don't know where to keep their loyalty and what work to do. So, we don't want to say anything on it. They have their own problems and they will themselves decide how to come out of it," she said.
Several top Congress leaders, including Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, party chief Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi, are expected to campaign in poll-bound Gujarat in the coming days.
Gujarat is going to polls in two phases on December 13 and 17.
