Facebook helps reveal Alzheimer sufferers' plight
A recent campaign used a very unique method so as to raise awareness about the most common form of dementia.
Some Facebook users were left confused after they saw tagged images pop up on their timelines, which showed them at functions they were sure they had never attended.
Next to the image, a message was posted that stated that what the Facebook users were going through similar to what a person suffering from Alzheimer's goes through, CNET reported.
The images were part of The Alzheimer's Event, an Alzheimer's awareness campaign by Alzheimer Nederlands, which was aimed at getting younger, social-media-savvy audiences engaged in the fight against dementia through knowledge and financial contributions.
The education and advocacy group teamed up with a team of image specialists, who edited images of unsuspecting people into photo albums of fake events.
Actual organizations like Amsterdam film festival helped contribute to the realism by posting those photos on their own Facebook pages.
