Ruckus at Jharsuguda over EVM tampering
The members of the political parties have expressed strong resentment over what they alleged tampering of seal in strong room where EVMs were kept amidst full security soon after the completion of first phase polling in two assembly constituencies of the district and the Bargarh Parliament constituency.
The EVMs were kept in the Engineering school's strong room with proper seals in presence of the Police, senior officers and representatives of the various political parties.
But a police officer on duty informed the Returning Officer- cum sub collector about the lose seal of one of the locks in strong room No 42.
Immediately, the Returning Officer informed the representatives of the political parties on the matter and re seal the locks in their presence.
But the leaders of different political parties raised objection over the issue. They charged the administration as to why the Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) was not informed about the incident when the police officer on duty had informed the matter to the Returning Officer on April 24 last.
The matter was later subsided yesterday when the Returning Officer showed the CCTV footage to the representatives of the political parties where there was no instance of tampering of the seal or any movement of the outsiders to the spot found.
The Returning Officer when contacted said the EVMs are kept in tight security and ruled out any tampering as apprehended by the representatives of Congress, BJD, BJP and other political parties.
