Varun seeks info on parking tainted money in Swiss accounts

varun-gandhi-1 New Delhi, Nov 4 : As things hot up in the fight against corruption, young BJP MP Varun Gandhi has filed a Right to Information with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) seeking the list of Indians, including MPs, holding accounts in Geneva-based HSBC Bank.

Mr Gandhi said in a statement that he sought with the CBDT of the Finance Ministry to state had it launched any investigation against Indians holding accounts in the banks as reported in the media.

He also sought to know whether any of the present or former MPs figures in the list of account holders, holding over Rs 50 crore in the list provided by the French authorities.

The CBDT, he requested, should reveal the names of individuals subjected to questioning, search and survey operations by the Income Tax Department in conjunction with the possession of the illegal bank accounts of HSBC.

They should also reveal if any recovery had been made from the Indian account holders by the IT Department and the period of time since when the citizens were holding these accounts, Mr Gandhi urged. (UNI -Posted on / )
