2 killed, three injured after car overturns in Andhra Pradesh's Palamaner
Palamaner, August 4
Two women were killed and three others injured after a car travelling from Karnataka to Tirupati met with an accident near Ramapuram on the V Kota Express Highway in Palamaner, Chittoor district, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, one person died on the spot, while another woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Gautami and Manasa, both residents of Tirupati.
Police said the family was returning to Tirupati from Karnataka when the accident took place. The husband of one of the deceased and two of their friends survived the crash but sustained serious injuries.
A preliminary investigation suggested that the car lost control following a tyre burst and overturned multiple times, leading to the casualties, police said.
Following the incident, police reached the spot, shifted the injured persons for medical treatment, registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
More details awaited.

Such tragic news! Going to Tirupati for darshan and this happens. Life is so unpredictable. Hope the injured recover quickly. Also, the authorities should check vehicle fitness and tire conditions at state borders to prevent such incidents.
Heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to the families affected. Having driven in India, I know road safety remains a major concern. Hope the investigation brings some clarity and leads to better safety measures.
These express highways are dangerous. People drive at 120-140 kmph without checking tire pressure. Tyre burst at high speed means sure death. Police should also check over-speeding vehicles. Rest in peace to the departed souls.
Om Shanti. Such a tragic loss of lives. Going to Tirupati Balaji and met with accident. God has his own plans. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Also requesting everyone to always wear seatbelts and maintain safe speed. 🙏
Very sad to hear this news. Just last month my cousin also had a similar accident near Madanapalle. The government should install speed cameras and rumble strips on these highways. Also, why no mention of wearing seatbelts? Accidents can be prevented with simple precautions.
