Delhi Chief Minister's feminine streak blossom at jewellery display

New Delhi, Aug 24 : Two important political personalities -- Delhi Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit and Samajwadi Party supremo Amar Singh -- took time off from their hectic
schedules to visit a magnificient collection of exquisitive diamond jewellery by leading
designer Purva Kothari who unveiled her brand 'Intrea' to a select audience.
Purva told the Chief Minister that gemstones have properties of their own and effect
the mind, body and soul of the person donning them. For instance, 'amber' stone has a
benign effect on the heart of an individual who wears them for sometime.
Similarly, it is well known that pearls enhance the beauty of a woman and improve her
skin care.
The feminine streak came out loud and clear in the Chief Minister who took a keen
interest in the jewels on display at the Diwan-e-Khas hall of the Taj Mahal Hotel in the
capital.
Ms Dikshit stopped time and again to have a close look at the 200 pieces on display,
making an enquiry about their origin, design and sometimes even price.
This exclusive range of classical and contemporary jewellery, sprinkled liberally with
gemstones of unusual colours enthralled the visitors and came in for much admiration from
the Chief Minister.
The creme della creme of Delhi was present at the launch ceremony.
Each creation has been uniquely designed to reflect the spirit and individual style of
the wearer, using precious gems such as diamonds, emeralds and rubies, with each stone
adding to the grandeur of the collection.
The collection includes intricate heavy jewellery, mostly necklaces and danglers and
shimmering gems sweep in an artful fringe of seductive magic along a women's neck.
The bright young designer seemed to be enjoying the overwhelming response to her new
collection.
Each piece appeared to have been crafted with a calculated consideration of lifelong
admiration.
'Intrea,' a joint venture between designer Purva and Diamond Merchant Arnish Sheth, is
a jewel house known for its celebration of the sparkling beauty of these stones.
''The objective of this unique partnership of creativity and the gemstone business is
to bring to the customer extra-ordinary designs coupled with stones of highest quality,''
Purva said.
'Intrea' redefines the design and treasures of India, she quipped.
Purva said the the two-day exhibition consists of diamond jewellery ranging in price
from Rs 30,000 to Rs 30 lakhs. You can have your pick.
She said good designs must be followed by skilled craftsmanship.
She said the craftmen of India are known for their intricacies and an eye for
detail.
The gorgeous designer said she maintains strictest supervision at every step of her
creation and while creating jewel pieces tries to maintain the tradition charm, while
adding comtemporanity and vibrance.
''Gems of all hues add colour to life,'' Purva said, adding that a successful designer
is one who creates each piece which is one its kind.
''We believe that no two people are alike. It is for this reason that every piece has
to be unique,'' Purva said.
She said a special interest to India relates to bridal jewellery adding that there was
also a growing interest in party wear for differenty occassions.
''At the end of it all, the best piece of jewellery in the world is the one that looks
good on you,'' Purva remarked.
