Telangana DGP CV Anand reviews rain-affected areas, directs police to remain on high alert

In view of the heavy rains that lashed Hyderabad and several other parts of Telangana, Director General of Police CV Anand inspected rain-affected areas, including Malkampeta Cheruvu tolichowki area, to assess the ground situation and review measures being taken to address waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
During the visit, the DGP held discussions with Cyberabad CP Ramesh regarding the prevailing conditions and the steps being taken to ensure public safety and smooth traffic movement in the affected areas, according to an offical release.
The DGP directed police officials to take immediate measures to prevent water stagnation on roads, clear traffic bottlenecks, and coordinate closely with civic authorities for the swift restoration of normalcy.
He emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations and deploying adequate personnel at critical junctions to regulate traffic and assist commuters, the release stated.
DGP Anand also instructed all police officers across Hyderabad and other rain-affected districts of the state to remain on high alert and be fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation arising due to heavy rainfall.
He directed field officers to maintain close coordination with district administrations, disaster response agencies, and municipal authorities to ensure timely assistance to the public.
The DGP advised citizens to exercise caution during travel, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow official advisories issued by the police and other authorities, the release noted.
He reiterated that the Telangana Police are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring public safety, effective traffic management, and prompt emergency response during the ongoing monsoon conditions.

Appreciate the efforts but need sustainable solutions too! Every year same waterlogging in areas like Malkampeta Cheruvu. GHMC has to clean nalas properly. DGP and police can do only so much, civic authorities should also be held accountable. Still good to see leadership on ground! 👍
CV Anand is genuinely one of the best DGP we had. He personally visited areas? Wow! Most officers would just send orders from AC rooms. This is called leadership. Hope other districts also follow same urgency. Kothagudem and Khammam also getting heavy rain reports.
Important to coordinate with disaster response agencies like NDRF and SDRF also. Hyderabad roads become waterlogged after just 1 hour of rain. Many low-lying areas need rescue preparedness. Police helplines must work 24/7 during monsoon. Last week I couldn't get through to traffic helpline for 1 hour, very frustrating!
As a daily commuter from LB Nagar to Gachibowli, I request police to also put extra traffic marshalls at Uppal and Kukatpally. Those become chaos during rains. DGP sahab, please ensure manpower deployment is right, not just on paper. We want action, not just press releases!
Sensible advisory for citizens to avoid waterlogged areas. But also need public awareness about submerged manholes which are very dangerous. My friend almost fell into one last year near Ameerpet. Police should coordinate with GWMC to cover open manholes during heavy rains. Overall good initiative by Telangana Police. Stay safe everyone!
