Man shoots teenager who wanted to fetch kite

Kolkata, Nov 3 : A man here fired at and injured a teenager when the latter went to his house to fetch a kite that had landed there, police said Monday.

The boy, Enayet Hussain, had gone to Debaprasad Guha's house Sunday to get back his kite that landed in the first floor apartment on Rifle Range Road here.

Enayet said he was flying kites with his friends near the railway tracks close to Guha's house when one of the kites landed in the apartment.

"I went to his house and asked if I could get in. He said yes, but then shot me," said Enayet, a resident of Palm Avenue in south Kolkata.

He suffered a bullet wound on his right arm. He was released from a city hospital after first aid.

"He had aimed at my chest. But I stretched my hand to cover my chest, and the bullet hit my arm," said Enayet, with his arm heavily bandaged.

Deputy Commissioner (South) of city police Rajesh Suvarna said Guha has been arrested.

Guha claimed he mistook the teenager for a thief.
