Kolkata Knight Riders to stay put at Eden Gardens
Kolkata, Oct 4: Eden Gardens would be the home venue of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the second edition of cricket's Indian Premier League (IPL) next year.
"Shahrukh Khan (owner of Kolkata Knight Riders) has assured me that he will not go out of Kolkata. He is prepared to come back for the second edition," Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya told newspersons after a 20-minute meeting with the matinee idol at the Eden Gardens here.
Dalmiya said there were some grey areas between the KKR and the CAB, they would be sorted out through discussions.
During the maiden year of the IPL, the KKR and CAB had differences on the issue of ticket quotas for CAB's life, annual and associate members, as also it affiliated units.
The affiliates and the members had gone to court protesting against the denial of free tickets for them. Later, CAB and KKR had arrived at an acceptable formula that was opposed by the then dissident group led by Dalmiya.
"I had a friendly and open discussion with Khan. I am happy about the way the meeting went. We discussed a lot of things general in nature. We did not discuss any specific points," Dalmiya said.
"If he can take half a step we will take a three-fourths step," the seasoned cricket administrator said.
