P.S. Gill takes over as Punjab Police chief

Chandigarh, July 3 : Jammu and Kashmir cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Paramdeep Singh Gill Friday took over as the new director general of Punjab Police.

The Punjab government amended rules to bring Gill, a 1974-batch officer, on deputation from Jammu and Kashmir.

Gill superseded Punjab cadre IPS officers, including his own elder brother R.S. Gill, who was the acting chief of the state police.

Gill took charge from his brother R.S. Gill Friday.
