CyberKnife cancer treatment successful: Apollo Hospital
Kozhikode, Nov 7 : Chennai-based Apollo Speciality Cancer Hospital (APCH) today claimed to have successfully treated over 140 patients with intracranial, spine, lung and prostrate tumors with innovative 'CyberKnife' technology.
Addressing a press meet here, APCH Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology, Dr Sanjay Chandrasekhar said many of these patients were from United Arab Emirates, Iran, Yeman, Sri Lanka, Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Describing CyberKnife, launched in March this year, as a safer alternative, he said the technology, a non-invasive method, offered an unparalled approach to treating inoperable tumors, he claimed.
Costing Rs 2.25 lakh for a single sitting and Rs four lakh for two and more sittings, the sophisticated treatment is pain free and does not require anesthesia,'' he claimed
