CG govt offers sops for SMS units in new industrial policy
Raipur, Nov 7 : The Chhattisgarh government announced its new industrial policy aiming to attract investment for promotion of Small and Medium Scale Industries across the state with a view to increase employment opportunities for local people.
The new policy that was approved in the Cabinet meeting held here last night under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, offered a minimum 20 per cent land reservation for Small and Medium Scale Industries in all industrial areas.
Briefing Mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said contrary to the previous industrial policy for 2004-09, development blocks would be considered as unit instead of district for development and growth of industries particularly in tribal-dominated areas.
Dr Singh said the new policy had shifted its focus from core sector industries to small and medium industries for its vast potential and said all the benefits and incentives which were earlier being given to core sector units, would now be extended to smallscale units.
According to the policy, the core industries like steel, aluminium, power and cement would now enjoy only the benefit of stamp duty.
The state also plans to develop a common rail corridor through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) model to provide direct rail link between mines and plants and railway yard for smooth transportation of finished products.
The policy further laid down the government's goals of having metal, aluminium, engineering, plastic, jems and jewellery and apparel parks.
Under the new policy, the Chief Minister said, the minimum price of one acre of land to be acquired by any industrial house for setting up of industries in the state had been fixed at Rs 5 lakh, while the maximum was fixed at Rs 10 lakh, which was ten times more than the previous rate.
