Demand for withdrawal of Bill to amend Devaswom Act

Kottayam, Nov 6 : Thiruvithamcore Devaswom Employees Front today appealed to Kerala government to withdraw the proposed Devaswom Act Amendment Bill.

Addressing a news conference here state president Chavara Gopakumar, general secretary G Baiju and G Sasikumar criticised the state government for not holding discussions with various Hindu religious organisations and Devaswom employees’ organisations before introducing the Bill in the Assembly.

They also criticised the state government for not providing necessary facilities for Sabarimala pilgrims.

The second state level conference of the Devaswom Employees Front to be held here on November 8 and 9 would discuss various demands of the employees, including class four employees’ benefits for the temple employees, distribution of P F credit card and doing away with privatisation programmes in Sabarimala.

KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala would inaugurate the conference. V M Sudheeran, R Chandrasekharan, K C Joseph, M Murali and V D Satheesan MLAs and other leaders would address various sessions, they said.
