Pro BJP organisation supports Dalai Lama's Arunachal visit
Guwahati, Nov 4 : A pro BJP social organisation today came out in support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's visit to Arunachal Pradesh beginning this Sunday.
Mr Shiladitya convener of Himalaya Parivar told the media China had no right to interfere in the matter.
The organisation will welcome His Holiness at the Guwahati airport and make a 'Tawang yatra' the day after the Dalai Lama leaves Arunachal Pradesh.
''We do not want to politicise his visit because he does not like it. But the day after he leaves, a 50-member delegation will drive all the way to Tawang to let the Chinese know that Tawang is India's (part)and every Indian loves it’s people,'' he said.
He also described as callous China's opposition to the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Arunchal Pradesh earlier.
Meanwhile, Tawang was getting ready to host His Holiness for the fifth time as it proudly recollects that this was the place through which the Dalai Lama made his great escape from Tibet to India.
Deputy Commissioner of Tawang district, Gamli Padu, today confirmed the spiritual leader’s visit.
''The Dalai Lama will arrive at Tawang on November 8. He is scheduled to fly from Guwahati and reach Tawang at 10 am,'' he said.
''His itinerary includes inauguration of the OPD block of a super-specialty hospital in Tawang, preaching sermons and planting trees at the Yidgha Choezin ground during his stay at the district headquarters till November 13.
''He will return to Itanagar on November 14 after a brief stopover at Bomdila. The Tibetan leader is expected to visit Theravada monastery at Vivek Vihar and Itanagar Gompa during his day-long stay at the state capital before leaving for Guwahati on November 15,'' Padu added.
