116.79 lakh tonnes paddy procured in Punjab
Chandigarh, Nov 4 : Government agencies and private millers procured more than 116.79 lakh tonnes of Paddy till last evening as compared to 120.64 lakh tonnes upto November 3 last year.
Out of total procurement of 1167996 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 11458203 tonnes of paddy (98.1 per cent) till date whereas private traders procured 221766 tonnes (1.9 per cent) of paddy.
Till November 3, PUNGRAIN had procured 3355997 tonnes (29.3 per cent) whereas MARKFED procured 2361587 tonnes (20.6 per cent).
PUNSUP procured 2665599 tonnes (23.3 per cent), PSWC procured 1408799 tonnes (12.3 per cent) whereas PAIC was able to procure 1105676 tonnes (9.6 per cent) of paddy whereas the Central Government agency FCI had procured 560545 tonnes (4.9 per cent).
The spokesman added that District Ludhiana with 1251506 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas district Patiala with 1235050 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and District Sangrur 1178729 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
The State Government has set up 1600 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of paddy, the spokesman added.
