Delayed arrival of winter in NE

Agartala, Nov 4 : The people of Northeastern states, including Tripura, have been experiencing unusually warm weather even after a month of formal departure of monsoons from the region.

The Met department revealed that both maximum and minimum temperatures of every state of the region was recorded at least two to four degrees above the mean level during the onset of winter this year.

Tripura has recorded average minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius in the past week, two degrees above the normal, while Met officials indicated that winter would take at least another week to arrive in the state.

''There is a possibility of light rain in the state in the later part of the week following which the humidity and temperature would reduce,'' Met officials said here today.
