Nagapattinam, TN, Nov 1 : Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has finalized the design for the proposed memorial for the Trinity of Tamil Music -- Arunachalakavirayar, Marimathupillai and Muthuthandavar -- to be erected at Sirkazhi and the work will be completed within nine months, Minister for Information and Publicity Parithi Ilamvazhuthi said.
After inspecting the land procured for constructing the memorial at Sirkazhi today,Mr Ilamvazhuthi said Mr Karunanidhi was keen on constructing the memorial as a spacious and spectacular structure, rich in architectural works.
''Accordingly, the government has procured 44 cents of land. Chief Minister has approved the design and drawings for the building,'' he said.
The government had earlier allotted Rs 92 lakh for the project.
''The revised estimates would be sent to Chief Minister's approval,'' he added.
The Minister said the memorial would be built in such a way that it would become one of the unique monuments in the State.
''Particularly, the memorial would reflect the aesthetic and architectural designs of the times when the Trinity lived at Sirkazhi.
''The government is keen on bringing out the importance of the 'Tamil Isai Moovar' in a classic way to properly educate the younger generation and to preserve the oldest Tamil Kirtanas penned by these legends,'' he said.
