RDA Gen Secy slams Kerala Govt on cancellation of ration cards

Kottayam, Oct 31 : Ration Dealers Association (RDA) General Secretary Babychen Mukkadan today assailed the Kerala Government for canceling ration cards without photos.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the cancellation of ration cards without photos by the state government through an order effective from November one would affect nearly four lakh families.

With nearly 16 lakh families already without ration cards in the state, the cancellation of ration cards sans photos without giving a chance to the card holders was unjustified, he said.

To protest against the government action ration dealers would fast before the Secretariat on November 23. If the government failed to withdraw the order, the agitation would be intensified, he said.

Stating that door-to-door campaign would be launched in Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Kannur Assembly constituencies against the LDF candidates, he said darna would be staged in front of the Taluk supply offices in the state as part of the agitation.
