John Mayer And Rashida Jones Not An Item

RASHIDA JONES has moved swiftly to deny reports linking her to JOHN MAYER after they were spotted on a 'date', insisting she was merely eating at the same restaurant as the rocker.

Internet gossips were whipped into a frenzy after the singer/songwriter was seen dining with Quincy Jones' daughter on Friday night (23Oct09) at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.

Bystanders even claimed Mayer had borrowed a guitar from a nearby restaurant performer to serenade Jones with his hit Your Body Is a Wonderland.

But The Office actress - who is said to be dating U.S. President Barack Obama's director of speechwriting, Jonathan Favreau - is adamant the reports are untrue.

Her representative tells GossipCop.com, 'she was having dinner with friends - totally independent of him.

'He came over to the table she was at with her friends, said hello to everyone, (and) asked if he could play the guitar that her friends were already playing. (His) performance was not directed at anyone.'
