Tejpal undergoes DNA, potency tests

Panaji, Dec 2 : Former Tehelka Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal, who is presently in police custody in a sexual assault case, on Monday underwent a detailed medical examination at Goa Medical College.

According to reports, the examination included DNA and potency tests.

According to Goa Police sources, Tejpal might be taken to hotel Grand Hyatt Goa on Monday where he would be asked to reconstruct the crime scene.

Tejpal was interrogated for five hours on Sunday.

Tejpal, who was arrested by the Goa Police on Saturday after his anticipatory bail was rejected in the case of a sexual assault charge, was sent to a six-day police custody on Sunday, in response to a 14-day remand sought by the police for investigation.

Tejpal was brought to the JMFC (Judicial Magistrate First Class) court for remand and it was expected that he would be sent to police custody.

Police had sought 14 days' custody, said public prosecutor Sandip Kapoor.

Tejpal was then taken back to police lock-up in tight security.

Tejpal allegedly sexually assaulted a woman journalist of his organisation in an elevator of Grand Hyatt Goa during the Think festival of Tehelka where ironically the participants were debating on issues like rape. The action of Tejpal is considered as rape under the new definition of the anti-rape law in India.
