UP cop seen mocking rape victim

Deoria, Uttar Pradesh : A senior police officer in Uttar Pradesh has been caught on camera aggravating the trauma of a rape victim, by mocking her and asking who would rape her, media reports said Friday.

"Why would anyone rape such an elderly woman?" the police officer, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police KC Goswami was seen saying in footage aired by local media.

"Her oldest child is 14, why would anyone rape such an elderly woman?" he asked in front of a crowd.

The victim, who has that she was dragged on the farms and then raped villager, had to chase the police for two days to get her case registered.

The accused also allegedly strangled her and left her in the fields, assuming she was dead.
