Al Jazeera planning to broadcast in French, Turkish to widen viewership

Manama, Mar 21 : Qatar-based TV network Al Jazeera has planned to broadcast in French and Turkish.

The network's director general Shaikh Ahmad Bin Jasem Al Thani said that they are about to finish the study to launch the French-language channel and have reached advanced stages.

He told Qatari daily Al Raya that the channel will help them build new bridges with other nations and cultures in Europe, Africa, North America and other regions.

Al Thani added that the network would also launch new programmes to enhance the main news channel over several stages, starting with the second quarter of this year, Gulf News reports.

According to the report, he said that a channel in Turkish would also be launched as the network consolidates its outreach.
