J&K: Snowfall disrupt rail, air services

Srinagar, Dec 31 : Heavy snow fall disrupted air and rail services in Kashmir valley on Tuesday.

Airport authorities said that around 19 flights were cancelled and not a single flight were operated from Srinagar International Airport
because of snowfall and poor visibility.

They said that snowfall is continuing in the area and there is less possibility of taking flights early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, rail service from Baramulla to Banhial in Jammu also remained affected due to snowfall.

Railway officials said that on Tuesday morning only three trains ran on track due to light snowfall on tracks but in the afternoon rail service was stopped due to heavy snowfall.

He also said that if weather remains dry during night then rail service will resume on Wednesday.

In view of heavy snowfall in the valley, the University of Kashmir postponed all university examinations scheduled from Jan 1 to Jan 5.
