Patil warns Shetkari Sanghatanas against taking law in their hand
Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil today expressed his displeasure on the ongoing agitation of various Shetkari Sanghatanas for demand of first instalment for sugarcane before the start of new crushing season and said agitators should not take law in their hand.
He was talking to reporters here this evening.
He further said sugar factory owners and farmers should jointly decide on the first instalment for sugarcane and start crushing season early, which normally commences on November 1, he said while replying to a query on ongoing agitation of sugarcane growers.
On allegation of MP Sadashivrao Mandlik on former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar that he (Mr Pawar) was responsible for Rs 70,000 crore irrigation scam, Mr Patil said the government would come out with a White Paper on water resources ministry in coming days.
On Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackery's vow to disrupt cricket matches between India and Pakistan, the minister said it was proper to hold cricket matches between two countries and said, "We will obey instruction from Union Home Ministry on this." He added that 'if any match is played in state, we will provide foolproof security to Pakistan cricket team.'
