Here is a good news for people, troubled by Summers, according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) this year's Monsoon will hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands any day after May 15. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, usually receive monsoon showers between May 10 and May 20, every year, opening doors of Monsoon for entire India. Monsoon is much needed for the kharif crops because almost 60 per cent of the farm land in the country is rain-fed.


"It appears anytime after May 15, there will be onset of Monsoon over Andaman and Nicobar Islands," Shidhart Singh, the officer in-charge of IMD in Andaman informed media today. Mr Sinha said there was no El Ni o effect over Andaman Sea.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands are receiving some pre-monsoon showers since last few days, but temperature remained still high at 35 degree C. Since January 2014, these remote Islands have recorded 40.2 mm of rainfall.
