GESCOM to regularise unauthorised irrigation pumpsets
The Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) has decided to regularise all unauthorised irrigation pumpsets in the district and install meters, following the direction of Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC).
GESCOM Managing Director Pallavi Akarathi said the state government initiated steps to regularise the unauthorised IP Sets immediately.
She said state government had fixed June 2012 as the deadline for the IP Set owner to submit their application for regularisation, and accordingly 27,000 plus owners had submitted their application and 9000 of them have been regularised and the process of regularisation underway for the remaining application, she said.
She said there were 53,564 unauthorised pump sets in the GESCOM and majority remained unregistered even after the deadline as there was some resistance to the metering of IP sets and GESCOM requested the state government to extend the deadline.
The government had promised to release Rs 25,000 to each of the IP sets owners who come forward to regularise their IP sets as part of the arrears of payments for electricity used.
