Chhattisgarh Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar stressed on the need for more effective and flexible panchayats to introduce the Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas (PESA) Act in the state.

Inaugurating the two-day workshop on 'Implementation of PESA and challenge in Chhattisgarh' here yesterday, Mr Chandrakar directed to constitute state-level functional group and committee which should study the activity of other states like Gujarat, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and submit suggestions to the state government and if needed, their suggestions could be discussed in Cabinet also.

The Minister also asked the executive, judiciary and the legislative to cooperate for implementation of the Act.
