Bollywood producer-director Mahesh Bhatt today said people should support Congress in order to keep alive the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Though I don't support the UPA government at the Centre and even the Maharastra government, but I am a big fan of Congress and support this party as I feel that it follows the ideology of Gandhiji," he told reporters here in presence of Congress candidate from Lucknow Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

"My daughter Aliya recently said to me I am trying to be involved in politics much these days. But I told her that your grand father suffered a head injury during the freedom movement and it is my duty to participate in the country's democracy."

"I also told Aliya that it is my duty to teach the youth to love our country by participating in a big way in these elections and to preserve the ideology of Gandhiji," he said.

Bhatt said election is not a two-hour long film and with a happy ending." Politicians work hard and the result could be either way," he said. He said though his brother supports BJP but he thinks other way and dons't support the BJP.

But making a critical remark on Narendra Modi, he said ," I went to Gujarat on the invitation of Modi in 2003 but later when the Gujarat government banned my films over my critical remarks over the riots." I don't think Narendra Modi can become an impartial Prime Minister of the country," he said.
