UP Police Reshuffle: 9 IPS Officers Transferred, Meerut SSP Moved

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred nine IPS officers in a significant police reshuffle affecting districts like Gonda, Sultanpur, Meerut and Jhansi. Key changes include Avinash Pandey moving from SSP Meerut to DGP headquarters, with B.B.G.T.S. Murthy replacing him. UP govt transfers IPS officers in major police reshuffle

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday carried out a significant reshuffle in the state police, transferring nine IPS officers across various district and headquarters postings.

Avinash Pandey was attached to the headquarters, while IPS officer Charu Nigam was also sidelined and shifted from a key posting to a less significant role.

The Superintendent of Police was given charge of the 112 emergency response system. Meanwhile, the SSP of Jhansi received a promotion, and officers from Jhansi were posted to important positions in Meerut.

According to the official transfer orders, Vinit Jaiswal (IPS 2014), who was serving as Superintendent of Police (SP), Gonda, has been posted as SP, Sultanpur. Charu Nigam (IPS 2014), the SP of Sultanpur, has been shifted to SP, UP‑112, Lucknow.

In a key change, Avinash Pandey (IPS 2015), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Meerut, has been transferred as SP attached to the headquarters of the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, in Lucknow. B.B.G.T.S. Murthy (IPS 2015), SSP, Jhansi, has been appointed SSP, Meerut.

Abhishek (IPS 2015), SP of Bijnor, has been posted as SP, Gonda. Vikas Kumar (IPS 2017), SP of Balrampur, has been elevated and transferred as SSP, Jhansi. Krishna Kumar (IPS 2018), SP of Sambhal, has been shifted as SP, Bijnor.

Among the other officers, Vikas Chandra Tripathi, who was serving as SP/Additional SP in Barabanki, has been posted as SP, Sambhal. Martand Prakash Singh, SP/Additional SP of Hardoi, has been transferred to Balrampur as SP.

The transfers involve a mix of district‑level Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), with some officers moving to key urban and sensitive districts. Others have been assigned headquarters roles.

The reshuffle covers districts including Gonda, Sultanpur, Meerut, Jhansi, Bijnor, Balrampur, Sambhal, Barabanki and Hardoi, along with a posting in the state capital.

The orders are expected to take effect immediately, and officers are directed to join their new assignments at the earliest. The changes are part of the routine administrative exercise undertaken by the state government to ensure effective policing across Uttar Pradesh.
