BJP hits back at PM over comments there is no Modi wave
Hitting back at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his comments that there was no Modi wave in the country and it was a media creation, the BJP today said the party and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi have emerged as a 'constructive alternative' and the NDA will form government at the Centre after the general elections.
"The Modi wave is not anyone's creation. The entire Modi wave has been inspired by the people. This wave is a wave of hope," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told a press conference here.
She said the BJP will come with 'fantastic results' on May 16 (the day of counting of votes) and the NDA will form the goverment.
"Manmohan Singh has attributed the wave to the media. Media is also a part of the democracy. The Modi wave is a feeling that the country deserves better. The country needs a better leadership and the BJP has given a tested, tried and proven leadership," she said.
Ms Sitharaman said recently concluded phases of the general elections reflect that the people "wanted to get a rid of the Congress".
In reply to a query, she said the BJP's alliance with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh was continuing and there was no problem between the two parties.
Ms Sitharaman said the party will decide which seat Mr Modi will vacate after the results.
Mr Modi is contesting from two seats -- Vadodara in Gujarat and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh -- in the general elections.
