The Haj Committee of India will conduct computerised Qurrah (draw of lottery) for selection of Haj pilgrims for Haj 2014 here on April 17.


The Haj Committee of India will hold the Qurrah, district-wise, according to State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor here today. The Quota for the the state had not been declared so far, Prof Shukoor said and added the State Haj committee was making elaborate arrangements for the Qurrah function.

Out of 18,080 Haj applications, the Qurrah would be held for 16,608 fresh Haj applicants, as 1,472 applicants under the reserved categories of 70 plus years and fourth timers had already been declared selected without the Qurrah, he said.

Haj Committee Executive Officer Abdul Hameed said the highest number of applicants belonged to Hyderabad with 8,839 applications.

Only five Haj applications were from the Srikakulam district and 12 from Prakasam district.
