Karuna criticises Modi's criticism of DMK
DMK President M Karunanidhi today sarcastically said NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's criticism of his party (and the ruling AIDMK) here last night was only an effort to win the support of the people of Tamil Nadu.
''He needs a reason to win the pleasure of the people as he is campaigning in Tamil Nadu (for BJP led NDA candidates contesting the April 24 elections) for the first time,'' he said in a brief chat with newspersons.
Mr Karunanidhi sarcastically said: ''He made an excellent statement to earn Tamil Nadu people's displeasure.''
At the election rally here yesterday, Mr Modi had said DMK and AIADMK had wasted their energies attacking each other and undoing whatever work either of their governments had taken up.
''They know well it will be government of either DMK or AIADMK every five years and so they play politics of vendetta at the cost of people,'' he had said.
Asked about the persistent criticism of DMK by AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Mr Karunanidhi retorted she was upset due to the fear that AIADMK would be losing the election. ''That is why she is laying charges against me and my party,'' he said. Asked how he felt after two rounds of campaigning for his party and the alliance partners, Mr Karunanidhi said it has been very bright, claiming that the candidates of the DMK led Front had bright chances of winning.
However, Mr Karunanidhi said 'no comments' when asked about Tamil super star Rajinkikant's praise of Mr Modi as an able administrator. ''I don't want to say anything,'' he added.
