By Saleem Iqbal Qadri, Jammu, Feb 20 : Blaming Congress for Afzal Guru's hanging, opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday created ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly and said Congress was in hurry to hang the Parliament attack convict.
Addressing media persons outside the Jammu and Kashmir assembly secretariat in Jammu, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti demanded that Guru's mortal remains must
be given to his family for the proper burial.
She said they had also adopted the resolution in this regard but Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde threw the same in the dust bin.
She while people in Valley demanded the mortal remains for two months, it was Congress that was in power in Delhi when Guru was hanged.
"It is beyond logic that now Congress is expressing grief over Guru's hanging and asking for his mortal remains. Where was Congress was when Guru was mercilessly
hanged in Tihar?" she asked.
The PDP president also stated that when the death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi's assassins was commuted into the life imprisonment, but Guru was picked from the queue and hanged.
"Are we the citizens of different India where justice cannot be delivered? Both Congress and BJP are playing cheap politics over Guru's hanging and through this salt is being rubbed over the wounds of Kashmiris," she said.
