Bihar celebrates Eid
Patna, Oct 2 : The people of Bihar today celebrated the festival of Id-ul-Fitr,
marking the end of the fasting month of Ramzan.
In the main congregation of the day at the historic Gandhi Maidan here, lakhs of people
from all walks of life of the Muslim community took part in the Eid prayers and exchanged
greetings after Namaz.
Donning new clothes, they also distributed sweets and clothes among the poor and
destitutes as part of the festivity, which also heralded the ideas of peace and
brotherhood among all.
Visiting the main congregation here, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had decided to
visit several relief camps for the flood-affected people of north Bihar, greeted the
people on the occasion.
Emphasising the need for maintaining love, brotherhood and amity among the people of
different faiths, he said only the idea of secularism could wipe out the menace of
terrorism from the country.
He also severely condemned the recent serial blasts in different parts of the
country.
Tight security arrangements had been made across the state with the deployment of
additional forces to prevent any untoward incident.
