Will block Mumbai if govt does not listen to our demands: OBCs

Nagpur, Oct 10: Various OBC fronts on Friday warned that they will block Mumbai, Thane and Pune if the state government does not listen to their demands, including the cancellation of a government resolution of September 2 to provide Kunbi certificates to Maratha community members.

Mumbai, Sep 9: The Maharashtra cabinet subcommittee on Maratha quota led by Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said on Tuesday that the state government has started implementation of government resolution (GR) issued on September 2 relating to providing Kunbi caste certificates to the Maratha community as per the Hyderabad Gazetteer, adding that there is no question of withdrawing the government decision.

OBCs to organise protest against Maratha reservation under their quota

Nagpur, Sep 6: OBC organisations on Saturday unanimously decided to take out a protest march in Nagpur in October against the Maharashtra government’s decision to implement the Hyderabad Gazette to provide Kunbi status to the Maratha community and thereby pave the way for them to get benefits under the OBC quota.

Pune, Sep 1: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that the Maharashtra government will follow the Bombay High Court order asking the authorities to clear roads occupied by protesters by 4 P.M. on Tuesday, stating that the agitation by pro-Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil should be held only at Azad Maidan and not elsewhere. It also instructed authorities to stop other protesters coming to Mumbai and halt them at the borders.

Mumbai, Sep 1: Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday convened a meeting of OBC leaders and organisations to discuss strategy in response to Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, who is demanding reservation for the Maratha community under the OBC quota and insisting that all Marathas in Marathwada be recognised as Kunbis to avail the benefits.
